The Church Saint-Mary

Vodable

Description

It is a modest but typical example of the Romanesque art. This original church, with a square bell tower, is covered with corbelled vaulting. Isolated at the centre of the cemetery, it is the vestige of the initial core of the village of Vodable and has interesting statuary.

The chapel of Colamine had attracted the arrival of a population of peasants attracted by clearing work. Today, the church built in the middle of the clearing clearings has remained solitary. The building with a single nave is topped by a square bell tower and covered with lauzes. During its restoration in 1979, 7 statues hidden behind the main altarpiece were found.
