The Valley of the Saints

Boudes

Description

This Colorado from auvergne is made up of magnificent red clay chimneys. The surrounding vineyards are omnipresent and produce one of the best wines in Auvergne: the "Côte d'Auvergne Boudes". The sunny village itself worths the detour (heritage)

Starting point - From the starting sign under the covered market, take the main street. At the fork go left, rue du Coufin. On the town hall square, turn left into rue des Forts. At the fountain, stay on the right and turn left on rue du Theur, direction "Vallée des Saints". After the bridge, turn right into rue de l'Avoiron, then left into the impasse du Ribassou. Continue straight ahead following the sign "Vallée des Saints" until you reach a crossroads with an iron cross (360° panoramic view, vineyard and village of Boudes, village of Bard).

1 - Turn right towards the Pic de l'Avoiron, then continue straight ahead (halfway down the slope, detour to discover the site of the "Vallée des Saints"). Then turn right until you reach a wide path on the right until you reach a T-junction - just after the power line.

2 - Turn to the right and join the asphalt road. At the crossroads, go opposite until you reach a T-junction. Go down to the right and continue along the road until another T-junction, then continue on the right until you reach the village of Saint-Hérent. Go up to a small square, go left and then go down the road opposite until you reach the entrance of the hamlet of la Croix.

3 - Go down the road to the right under the houses, cross the stream and continue until the crossing. Keep to the right and continue until you reach the entrance of the hamlet of Pouilloux.
